Common Laptop Problems We Fix in Birmingham
From everyday faults to complex issues — our technicians in Selly Oak handle it all.
Laptop Screen Replacement
A cracked, flickering or completely dead screen is one of the most common laptop repairs we carry out. We stock replacement panels for all major brands — Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, MacBook and more — and most screen replacements are completed the same day. We use quality IPS and OLED panels matched to your original display specification.
Battery & Charging Problems
If your laptop battery drains quickly, won't charge, or the laptop only works when plugged in, it's likely time for a battery replacement. We also repair charging ports — USB-C, barrel connectors and proprietary connectors — on all laptop brands. Most battery and charging repairs are completed within a few hours.
SSD Upgrades & Data Recovery
Upgrading from a traditional hard drive to an SSD is the single biggest performance improvement you can make to an older laptop. We supply and fit SSDs on all compatible models, cloning your existing data across. We also recover data from failed drives, corrupted storage and accidentally deleted files.
Overheating & Fan Problems
Overheating is a leading cause of laptop failure. If your laptop shuts down unexpectedly, the fan runs constantly, or it's hot to the touch, bring it in. We clean dust from cooling systems, replace dried-out thermal paste, and repair or replace faulty fans — restoring safe operating temperatures and preventing further damage.
MacBook & Apple Laptop Repair
We repair MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models alongside Windows laptops. Common MacBook repairs include screen replacement, battery replacement, keyboard repair (including butterfly and Magic keyboard issues), charging port repair and liquid damage. All MacBook repairs come with our standard 3-month warranty.
Virus Removal & Windows Repair
Blue screens, slow boot times, Windows update failures, corrupted system files, viruses and malware — we diagnose and fix all software faults. Where necessary, we carry out a clean Windows reinstall while preserving your data. We also set up new laptops, remove bloatware and configure security software.
All laptop repairs at T&G Repairs come with a 3-month warranty covering parts and labour. We're at 25 Oak Tree Lane, Selly Oak, Birmingham B29 6JE — open 8am to 10pm, Monday to Sunday. No appointment needed.
